Weather Statistics

These statistics are based on the year of 2012
It is the latest confirmed data available.

Lightning and Thunderstorms
According to the Natural Hazard Statistics in the year of 2012 there were 28 reported deaths due to lighting. That's a pretty high number considering that the odds are 1 in a million to get struck by lighting. That's just the number of fatalities, if you were to include injuries you would have a total number of 167 lighting related accidents.

120 people were fatally injured from tornado and thunderstorms for the year of 2012. Property damage was a  a big ordeal when it came to thunderstorms that year. In 2012 alone there was an estimated amount of damage in the total of $1,960,000 million dollars.

Hot and Cold Temperatures
Extreme temperatures can be very dangerous and can result in a large number of deaths across the United States of America yearly. Take the year of 2012, 8 people died because it was simply to cold outside, this is not counting cold water accidents.

That number can seem small compared to the number of deaths due to hot weather. 155  is the number of reported deaths that  occurred in the year of 2012 alone. Thats almost 12 times the number of cold weather deaths.

Water and Floods
Floods can be broken down into two categories. Flash floods and river floods. They both are very dangerous and result in about the same number of deaths a year. River floods resulted in 10 deaths in the year of 2012 and about double that in flash floods. 19 people died as a result of flash floods because of the suddenness of the water overflow.

Flash floods can occur in several ways which makes it more deadly each year. The melt away of ice at a rapid speed has resulted in many flash floods in the past. One has to remember that Flash floods do not only happen when there is heavy rain fall. Man made dams that have failed also caused flash flood in recent history.

5.4 degrees Fahrenheit jump in the global surface temperature.
Pre-industrial carbon dioxide levels are to blame in the situation we now face. Pollution has caused many discussions in these times we now live in. We can all agree that we don't want the earth to warm in a man made way. But whats who's blame in the increase in global surface temperature?

Many scientists believe that is the major pollution emitted from industrial factory's. They say that this planet is very sensitive in many ways. Carbon dioxide and the climate are two toxic platforms that need not come into contact in certain conditions. Our climate is very sensitive when it comes to carbon dioxide. They focus a lot of there data on the transformation and melt away of the glaciers.
